Fucked Up – The Chemistry of Common Life

Now this is one great album. I never thought hardcore could go this far in wooing me on first sight. From the opening of Son the Father, the numerous layers of slightly washed away distorted guitars, I knew that this has to be something, and Fucked Up have really done it well. I don’t know what’s so special and punching about it. Maybe the 80s indie style guitar overdubs on all tracks and a shouting voice that’s actually not annoying floating above them. I feel like I must race to that sun pictured on the album cover.

No matter how hard you try… Yeah so we now have Zach De La Rocha’s solo album where he’s in a duo with an ex-Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore. I don’t know, maybe we don’t need a RATM reunion after all?
Deftones – White Pony (Red Limited Edition)
I was very happy to find a limited edition of one of my favourite albums of all time, Deftones‘ White Pony, featuring a nice bonus track “The Boy’s Republic” recently posted on Demonoid in FLAC format. Eight years on, I still enjoy every bit of its’ psychedelic heaviness and emotional intensity, from the first riffs of Feiticeira until the fading heartbeat drums on Pink Maggot.
